biography

The themes in Christal Spitzner’s work are contradictions within themselves. Her work is raw yet elegant. Each subject is attractive, but seduces the viewer to see more than what is on the surface, to go beyond the idea of “pretty and vacant”.  Her style is a simplification of application and color saturation combine to flesh out a figure with narrative complexity.

The figures she paints are confident, seductive, and begging for attention. They exist in their own sensually esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them. These mysterious young women captivate with the direct stare of their hungry eyes.
